How to plan your maths studies over a term
An example study plan with revision, active practice and exam preparation. Adapt it to your course and your needs.
A study plan can give structure to your maths studies. Here is an example to adapt to your course, prior knowledge and available time. Results and grades depend on several factors.
Weeks 1–2: Find the gaps
Review earlier problems and mark where you get stuck. Do you need to revise fractions or algebra, for example? Ask your teacher or tutor to help you decide what to prioritise.
Weeks 3–6: Active practice
Practise regularly and try to explain why each step works. Use your textbook, worked explanations and feedback to support your practice.
Weeks 7–10: Exam-style practice
Work through past papers under timed conditions, mark them carefully and retry the questions you got wrong.
